This short piece by David O’Reilly is incredible.
I’m wondering how someone casts Will Smith as Robert Neville for the screen adaptation of Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend. I have absolutely nothing against Mr.Smith, or his acting; I think he’s a fine actor. Seeing how they changed the whole entire plot-line, I guess it makes sense to cast the least-likely-to-play-the-main-roll as the main roll. However, he should have nothing to do with this movie.
This isn’t like casting a female for the part of Starbuck, in Battlestar Galactica, but rather someone that doesn’t fit the description at all. Robert Neville needs to a scraggly guy who can grow a beard (don’t talk about fake beards and make-up, everyone knows he can’t grow a beard), gain a few points, and yell without you remembering he’s the Fresh Prince. AND how the fuck does someone who finds a child’s chemistry set in the novel, turn into a brilliant scientist in the film? Ack! I’m so bitter about this whole thing.
I was totally going to get “I Am Legend” on my chest in Univers Condensed Medium all caps, but now, I’m a bit iffy about the whole thing. :\

Last year I had read that Transfatty, Patrick O’Brien, had developed ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and now the Patrick O’Brien Foundation has been started. There are plenty of causes to help, all worthy of support. However, if you’ve been around the design community for long, you know how much Patrick has contributed and how brilliant his work is.
There are a couple of shorts on the site that are quite good, check them out as well as this. The ’summer promo’ is excellent. Not that the others aren’t, but that one stands out amongst the rest.
Wulffmorgenthaler has always been the only
web comic thing online that I’ve read on a daily basis for the past two years at least, and it will probably stay that way. It’s consistantly funny, with it’s ridiculous dark humor. If you’re not dense, you’ll enjoy it. Here are a couple of my favorites.
Andres Morgenthaler who’s one of the contributors to the comic is working on a film called Princess, which looks solid. The trailer is a bit loud, so when you click the link make sure your sound is turned down a bit. It’d be pretty great to get a screener, maybe write a review or something…. ^^
“Tyger” is a short film by Guilherme Marcondes.
Every year, Cultura Inglesa funds a few cultural projects for their festival. This project was one of the three selected for 2006.
It is stellar. The illustrations, photography/cinematography, motion, music, everything.
The Khronos Projector is an interactive-art installation allowing people to explore pre-recorded movie content in an entirely new way. A classic video-tape allows a simple control of the reproducing process (stop, backward, forward, and elementary control on the reproduction speed). Modern digital players add little more than the possibility to perform random temporal jumps between image frames.
I’m just going to come out and say… the US trailer for Lady Vengeance isn’t as good as I think it could have been. The plot, scenes, and photography are great… but the trailer is put together poorly. Maybe on purpose? I don’t know, but I have very high hopes for Lady Vengeance. Chan-wook Park doesn’t really disappoint.

Without knowing much about 20 year old Carl Zhang or the film itself, what more can you say than ‘beautiful’. Even if the movie is bland, with no real story or character building… at least it has incredible photography, right? Check out the trailer for ‘Lovers’, and see if you can get any more story than what the title says already.
